What makes a nice Steak

I love Steak. Sometimes, nothing can beat a prime cut of Beef that is cooked just right.

But of course, there are a few things that make a Steak even better for me than that.

It is a long road to perfection, but I do not mind.

The Cut

One of the most important bits about a Steak is where it comes from.

There are so many bits to choose from. Usually, my go-to cut is a nice Rump Steak, because it is usually a bit cheaper.

Recently, I have found myself to really dig a real good Ribeye though.

And as long as the Meat has a good fat content, I do not really care about any kind of special Cow breed.

How ‘done’ should it be?

When it comes to done-ness, there is absolutely no question for me.

It has to be perfectly Medium, maybe even leaning a bit on the Rare side.

I just could not bring myself to eat an old Shoe, and that is pretty much what a Well Done Steak tastes like to me.

You also shall not kill the Cow twice. There is just no need for that.

What about condiments?

A good Steak does not need much, if anything, extra to be awesome.

Usually, I only ever season with some Salt & Pepper.

That being said, some nice Kräuterbutter always goes very well with a perfectly Medium Steak.

It just gives it that little extra kick. And sometimes, I like it dirty and have my steak with quite a bit of Green Pesto on Top of it.

That actually tastes kinda nice.

Little Helpers

To get my done just the Way I like it, I also use some little Helpers.

Like a timing app that is really good.

Or even my OptiGrill.

It has not let me down yet.

A Meat Thermometer might also help.

My Conclusion

In the end, there are just a few things I really want from a steak.

Obviously, it has to be tender and juicy. It should also be cooked to Medium.

Apart from some Kräuterbutter, that and is all I need… except for when I crave pesto.
