A Dublin Refresher

Last New Years Eve was great. There was a beautiful Tractor Parade in my Village, there was good Food and we had a lot to drink.

One of those Drinks was something that I later learned was a Dublin Refresher. And it was awesome.

Back then, all I new was that it was made with Port Wine and Ginger Ale. A Combination I would have never thought of at all.

I knew right away that I had to recreate that Drink. But since I was heading to School right after News Years Day, there was no Way I could actually do that.

Until now. All I had to get was some Port, Ginger Ale and Ice. I forgot the Ice.

Since I never really was into Wine, I also had absolutely no Plan on where in the Supermarket I would find some Port.

So I decided on the Brand online and searched by the Foto of the Wine on the Stores Website. That still did not help though.

I actually had to ask an Employee, and those a harder to find than anything Else.

In the end, I found Help and the Beverage.

Of Course, finding the Ginger Ale was very easy. I knew where it was from a previous visit, after all.

There were a few Choices around, but I decided to play it Safe and go with the Classic: American Ginger Ale.

That Stuff is neither too mild or too spicy, and I was sure it would work nicely.

After a bit of Experimentation on Ratios, most Recipes called for a 50/50 Blend, I found my perfect mix.

50/50 unfortunately did not do it for me. Instead, I landed on an easy 60/40 with a bit more Ginger Ale.

It was just kinda disappearing the other Way around. Maybe I should have gone for a stronger Version.

Truth be told: I really did not miss the Ice, or the Orange Slice from New Years Eve, at all.

The Drink was actually very good and super refreshing. I even made myself more than one, and I usually do not drink much at all.

Of Course, I also had to try some of the Port on its own. And I liked it.

Admittedly, Wine as a whole has started to grow on me recently.
