Every now and then, I really do love a good Burger. Those things are tasty and full of goodness.
They can also make me very happy indeed.
But of course, everyone has their own definition of a ‘good Burger’. That is completely normal though, as Tastes are completely subjective.
So what makes a Burger good for me? What gives me the fizz?

The Heel and Crown
The beautiful Thing about normal Burgers is that they are their own Container and Cutlery at the same Time.
Because of that, the Bun is actually one of the most important, yet often overlooked Bits of a Burger.
It needs to be Firm enough to stand up to everything in the Burger, but it should also not be to tough.
Personally I prefer a nice Brioche Bun. Slightly toasted, without Sesame Seeds.

The Heart and Soul
Of Course a Bun would never make a Burger without anything inside it. And the most important bit, at least for me, is the Beef Patty.
There are many awesome Styles, but it should be juicy. Some crispyness is also very appreciated.
But most importantly, the Beef needs to taste like Beef.
That is why I usually only Season with Salt & Pepper. And I go very lightly on the Salt.

Cheese or no Cheese?
For me, Beef alone makes a good Burger. But I also need some good Cheese from Time to Time.
Cheese just brings everything together. It brings some Flavour, but it is also not overpowering.
And it can also bring some much needed integrity to the Beef by holding it all together.
As long as I is not American all the Time, Cheese is definitely a must to me.
Recently, I really came to like Goats Cheese on Burgers. A nice Blue Cheese can also be awesome.

Every Hero needs their Sidekick
A great Burger is already awesome with just Patty, Cheese, a Sauce and maybe some Onions. There really is not that much to it.
On the other Hand, Bacon and Pickles can be really awesome.
Sometimes, Chilly Peppers can provide a much needed Kick.
A nice Slaw Burger is really awesome from Time to Time.
As long as they are not overpowering the Burger itself, Sidekicks are awesome.
Except for Tomatoes. Those are Vile and have to stay away from any Burger I would eat.
Salad can go both Ways, depending on my Mood.

Condiments are a must
Because the Bun can be a bit dry just by itself, some Sauces are definitely a must on every good Burger.
Of Course, there should not be too much of that. I want to eat my Burgers with my Hands after all.
Mayo and Remoulade are awesome. Even some hot Burger Sauces, or even Mustard, can be really awesome.
As long as the Sauce still allows for the Burger to be itself, I am fine.
Ketchup on the other Hand, while it sure has its Purpose, can stick it. Except for when it is a Part of another Sauce.
Than it can actually be really nice.

In Conclusion
A good Burger needs to be simple, yet also Complex enough to tingle my Nerves.
It should be eatable without Utilities, and it shall never have the Devils Fruit, aka Tomatoes, within it.
Other than that, I am easily pleasable.
But I am also curious: What would make the perfect Burger for you? Are there Things you can not live without, or that have to stay far away?
