Sometimes, I really like Cake. It can be a real treat, or even a nice celebratory Tea Time Snack.
Ever since I can remember, my favourite Cake had been something very simple, yet very special: My Moms Apple Cake.
She always made it for my Birthday and also for other special Occasions. I can still remember having some on the Day I came back from Canada.
It had been right after I cleared Customs, and it had been grand.
My Mom still makes this Cake every now and then.

My favourite Apple Cake really goes great in my Family. There is usually nothing left once everyone has gone Home.
And it is a really easy Cake: All it is made of are Streuseln, some Quark, a hint of Cinnamon and quintessentially, Apples.
Those Streuseln are just made with Flour, maybe a bit of Sugar and Butter. They are awesome raw and even better in the Cake.
They form the Base of the Cake, that is than covered by the Quark, some Cinnamon and those beautiful Apples. To cover it all up, the Rest of the Streuseln are then sprinkled on Top.
It really is an easy Cake to make, yet I have never even attempted to make it myself, nor will I in a very long Time.
That would be sacrilege.

The Thing is: My Mom never actually invented that Recipe herself, but she also kinda did.
The original had been written in some kind of Newspaper or Magazine in the mid 1990ies, and has long been lost.
As far as I am aware, no actual printed Recipe exists for the Version of that Cake my Mom makes. She pretty much does it all from Memory.
Of Course that also means that a few Things probably changed from the original Version.
I do not care about that. It has always tasted the same to me. And I really love it.

Some People like to add Cream to their Slice of Apple Cake, but I do not. Believe me, I did try that once.
It is just unnecessary in my honest opinion. When I have Apple Cake, I want to have it like I always had it as a Kid.
Full with Apples and without any Cream. Like it is intended to be eaten.
– I just found out that Streuseln are a bit like Crumble by the Way.
