The humble Mettbrötchen

We Germans like to eat quite a few weird Things. Like Schwarzwurst or even Pigs Feet, also known as Haxen.

While I do not really care for the latter, I do like a lot of our traditional Foods. Some of them are even kinda awesome!

One of those grand Foods is the humble Mettbrötchen. It does not look like much, but it tastes superb!

For the uninitiated, a Mettbrötchen might actually be something weird. It is made with minced Pork and sometimes Onions.

For now, that is absolutely nothing special. Mince and Onions are used for many different Things.

On a Mettbrötchen, that Meat is never cooked though. It is only seasoned and then slapped onto the Brötchen.

You read that right: We Germans do eat raw Pig! And it definitely tastes really good.

I do understand that eating raw anything might sound weird and off-putting to some.

Believe me though, it really is nothing special. Or at least not to a German.
