I like eating Meat. But I am also very much open to any new Food Experience. Finding new Things is always exiting.
Since I very much like Hamburgers, I just had to give Vegan Patties a try some Time ago.
My Mom gotten them at the local Lidl, and she also was the one who cooked them up.
I still did make a few Observations about that process though. And the mail n Thing is: They cook pretty much normal, but also burn a little easy.

Of Course, the Patty is just one Part of the Burger. So it has to play along nicely with all the other Ingredients to make a tasty Sandwich.
Since I did want to try a fully Vegan Burger, I did not use any Cheese on this one.
But Lettuce, Sauces and some Onions were a must for me. A dry Burger isa bad Burger after all. I also put some Cucumbers.
Luckily, that was not the Case.

For me, a good Burger Patty is both nicely charred on the outside and very juicy on the inside.
Sadly, as it did seem to do so very easily, my Vegan Patty was a bit crisp on the outside. It was juicy though.
While my Mom claimed that those Things do taste very much like Meat, I really did not think so.
They were very good, but I could definitely taste the Soy and Mushrooms in it.

In the End, only the actual, all built up Burger counts. And this one was definitely very good.
Sure, it was Different. But it was a good Different.
I actually really liked it. But I still very much prefer Beef for now.

That’s good to know, thank you for the warning! I could be a smart aleck and ask how you know what dog food tastes like, but instead I will admit that *I’ve* tasted dog food in my extreme youth. When I was born, my Dad decided that I needed a dog, so he brought home a German shepherd mix puppy. At first we shared my crib, but of course – dogs being what they are – he quickly outgrew me and then decided that it was his job to take care of me. Apparently this included sharing his kibble if my folks weren’t watching closely enough, but I was too young to remember it tastes like. However, since I continued to munch on dog biscuits until I was 10 or 11 years old, I do remember those – they taste sort of like those expensive health-food crackers, actually. 😂 Just call me Fido. Woof. 🐶

I’m glad you liked your vegan burger sample. 🙂 It’s been many decades since I’ve eaten real meat, but the omnivores in my house enjoy eating veggie burgers as well. However, like you, they do point out that they don’t taste very much like real meat. There is a brand called “Impossible Burger” here in the States that’s supposed to taste like meat (it even “bleeds” beet juice when one cuts into it), but they’re super expensive, and as a vegetarian, the fake blood isn’t very attractive to me, so we haven’t tried them. My hubby is the main cook in our house, and he usually cooks veggie burgers by baking them – that method may turn out burgers that are too dry for your tastes, though. Anyway, keep experimenting – there’s a lot of unexpectedly good food out there!

I definitely will keep experimenting. But for now I will definitely stay Omnivore. I have also heard about the Impossible Burger, but I don’t think I can get that here in Germany. Maybe one day. The Beet Juice does not sound very appetizing though.

I have had the impossible burger as a whopper at burger King and it was not too bad. I do have a video where I did a side by side comparison on my YouTube. Beyond burger is horrible. It smells like dog food and tastes like it too.
