A good Burger…

I am a Fan of simple Foods, and sometimes there is nothing better than a simply good Burger.

Those self-contained Things a full of Flavour, usually easy to eat and always a good Meal to be had.

For me, there are a few Things that separate the Wheat from the Chaff though.

Not every Burger is automatically a good one.

The Issue of Hand-eatability

Since many Years, I have witnessed the spread of massive towering Burgers on social Media.

There are usually heaps of Meat and Cheese with Eggs aplenty and all kinds of tasty Ingredients everywhere.

Those Abominations defy the single greatest purpose of the Burger though: To be eaten with using utensils like Forks and Knives.

Burgers are supposed to be simple Things, not overladen with everything. Too much of a good Thing can easily make it bad after all.

Beef Snobbery

There are many great Burgers out there made with Beef as the main Player. There in a lot of Tradition in making awesome Sandwiches with Beef.

But going as far as disallowing anything else to be called a Burger is not something I can get behind.

I know this is not going to be a popular Opinion, but I really do not care if there is Beef in the Patty.

For me, it does not even necessarily have to be Meat anymore.

There are great Creations out there made with Chicken, Pork and Bear as well.

I once even had a fabulous Burger made from Swedish Moose.

In my Opinion, those all deserve to be called a Burger. As long as there is a Patty made from some ground up Meat/ alternative Meat, I am good.

Lettuce on Burgers

While I do love some Lettuce and other Greens on Burgers, but there have to be some Limits.

Like how there should not be to much of it, and like how it should never be overpowering in Flavour.

Arugula for example is a great Addition to any Burger, but only if it is used in a limited quantity.

The only Thing I will never use are Tomatoes. Those Things are just vile.

Saucy Shenanigans

Of Course, there has to be a bit of Sauce on a Burger. Or does it actually?

For me, it is only necessary to add any Sauce to a dry Burger or one that still needs that little something.

Usually, that is pretty much every Burger, but I did have one or the other where Sauces actually slightly worsened the Experience.

I definitely prefer little to no Sauce to overflowing Ketchup and Mayonnaise.

Contrary to many, I do not completely oppose Ketchup though.

I do not like it too Spicy or too Sweet though… and do not get me started on Cheese or no Cheese.
