Yesterday, I actually visited the Weihnachtsmarkt in Freiberg again.
I knew exactly what I wanted to get. I had mentioned Handbrot before, and actually got some this Time.
There had been absolutely no Line at the Stand, and some of the People I was with also got themselves a Handbrot.

It did look very delicious, and so I just had to get some for my self.
There were quite a few Variations to be had, but I wanted to eat something simple that would satisfy my Hunger.
I got a Handbrot filled with Ham and Cheese. Because Ham and Cheese is usually a very tasty Combination.
There was also a nice Dipping Sauce on it.

Dresdener Handbrot can be a roll or bread filled with cheese and cooked ham. The filling is already inside the Handbrot during the baking process. With a little imagination, you can also use other ingredients.
After doing a bit of Research, I then found out that Ham and Cheese actually is a traditional Filling for Handbrot in Dresden.
I also found out that the Filling is actually baked right into the Handbrot, but I had already suspected that.
The Handbrot was also quite greasy because of that. I guess the Grease also enhanced the Flavour quite a bit.
I also bought some tasty Moonshine at the Weihnachtsmarkt…

That does look good! Quick question… in the States, moonshine is an alcoholic beverage produced in illegal stills. In the old days, these stills were hidden out in the woods. What is moonshine in Germany?

I do know some Things about Prohibition and Moonshine, also have seen a show about modern Moonshiners.
The German Makers just got inspired by the Stuff.
There’s also a Post in the works.
